Whats the name of this darkroom photography technique?
heya, i’ve been working in the dark room and i’m not sure what this technique is called. i basically took the neg image and before exposing it i covered up some of the paper with black card then exposed it. then i changed the neg and covered up the exposed parts and exposed the previously covered up parts of the paper so the revealed areas were reversed.
i know its something to do with double exposures but i cant remember the name for it.

What you’ve done is not really called anything other than create a photograph; but instead of using the whole of one negative you have used two half images and cleverly joined them up on your phographic paper. It’s not a double exposure; as a double exposure is two images overlapping usually done on early cameras when the photographer forget to wind on the film after one photo was taken and then taking onother picture thus creating two images on the one negative.This was frowned on by ordinary people but clever Photographers learned the art of darkroom manipulation.
